St John’s has a long history of service within our parish and outreach to our community.
East End Refugee Committee: St John’s is a founding member of the East End Refugee Committee (EERC), a group of local churches of various denominations that participate in Canada’s Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program. Our parishioners have welcomed a number of families, helped them to resettle, and provided financial support.
Anglican Church Women: The ACW is an umbrella organization for various active groups in the parish. The Chancel Guild prepares the sanctuary for worship. The Norway Group sponsors Sunday coffee hour, provides food and refreshments for parish events, and raises funds for community programs such as Out of the Cold and for the education of children in Africa. The Prayer Shawl Ministry team knits shawls which are offered to those who are sick, elderly, or in need.
Community Groups: St John’s offers a home where local community groups can meet. These groups include Scouts, Guides, Beavers, Venturers and Rovers, and Alcoholics Anonymous.
